Hyderabad: Parents of a 21-year-old student, Nakkala Uday Kiran, a resident of Kothlapur, Sangareddy, Medak, who was declared brain dead, have donated his organs to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On April 9, Uday Kiran fell from a moving bus and was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical team, he was declared brain dead on April 11.

His father, N Srinivas, displayed immense courage and humanity by consenting to organ donation. Five organs, including kidneys, liver and corneas, were retrieved and donated to needy patients.

This case marks the 53rd organ donation facilitated so far this year by Jeevandan Telangana.
