Briefcase with Rs.5 lakh stolen from retired IPS officer in Hyderabad 

The incident occurred on Sunday and was reported on Monday, with the Jubilee Hills police registering a case.

Hyderabad: Unidentified persons stole a briefcase with Rs 5 lakh cash from retired Director-General of Police Vinay Ranjan Ray (62), from his residence in Jubilee Hills.

The incident occurred on Sunday and was reported on Monday, with the Jubilee Hills police registering a case.


According to the police, the briefcase was stolen from the retired IPS officer’s residence on Jubilee Hills Road No.10. They suspect the role of an insider.

Jubilee Hills Detective Sub-inspector of Police B.Harishwar Reddy said: “The brief case was picked up from the officer’s room on Sunday. He realized it late and lodged a complaint. We are suspecting domestic helps and other staff behind it.”

CCTV footage from the house and surroundings was being examined.
