Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao said that the Mallanna Sagar reservoir and other reservoirs which are brimming with water have proved that Congress was leading a malicious campaign against the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). “How can the irrigation department pump in 21 TMCft of water into Mallanna Sagar if KLIS is a failure? Harish Rao questioned.

Rao along with MLCs P Venkatrami Reddy, Dr V Yadava Reddy, Deshapathi Srinivas, Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Narsapur MLA V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Vanteru Prathap Reddy, Errolla Srinivas and other leaders visited Mallanna Sagar on Friday to see the brimming the reservoir.

Urging the Congress leaders to visit Mallanna Sagar to see the truth, he said that they had also completed 90 per cent of the canals under the project which would benefit farmers in four districts. Rao asked the Congress government to complete the leftover canals if they had any commitment for farmers issues. The former minister said that every grain of harvest under Mallanna Sagar ayacut will have the name of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao because he had enabled the realisaation of the dream of getting Godavari water to Siddipet. Rao said that Annapurna Reservoir, Ranaganayaka Sagar, and Kondapochamma Sagar were also brimming with water as the irrigation department lifted water from Mid-manir to the chain of reservoirs.

The pumping of water is still on. He said that the Congress leaders spread a false campaign that KLIS was submerged and it got swept away. Rao said that the brimming reservoirs would checkmate all such campaigns against the KLIS, Chandrashekhar Rao, and BRS Party.

Harish Rao said that the flowing Godavari water in the canals will carry the truth to every nook and corner. He said that Chandrashekhar Rao’s name will remain etched in the hearts of the farmers forever because the farmers were reaping the fruits of his work. Rao said that Congress was carrying a false campaign saying that the BRS Party looted Rs one lakh crore on KLIS though he had clarified time and again that they had spent Rs 93,000 crore. He demanded the Congress government to stop the malicious campaign against the KCR now.

While they had diverted water from the river course to irrigation fields, the Former Minister said that the Congress Party was trying to gain politically by resorting to diversion politics. Citing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s statements of taking Godavari water to Musi and Hyderabad, Rao said that Mallanna Sagar will be going to the source for all the works being proposed by Revanth. He said that the government was delaying the release of fishlings into reservoirs into tanks though all the water bodies were brimming with water. Rao recalled the BRS government released fishlings into the water bodies in August month only to benefit the Mudiraj community.
