Brisk polling in Dubbak, voter turnout crosses 71 per cent

Hyderabad: Polling in the Dubbak bye-election has picked up momentum around lunch hour and it stood at 71 per cent at 3 pm on Tuesday indicating a huge poll percentage. The polling which was only 13 percent in the first two hours of polling, has gained momentum as the day progressed and recorded 34.33 at 11 am and 55.52 per cent at 1 pm.
Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel has examined the polling trend at four polling stations including the ZPHS Latchapet in Dubbak mandal. He along with district collector Bharathi Holliker and commissioner of police D Joel Davis then examined the strong room at Latchapet.
Speaking to the media, the district collector said that so far the polling has been peaceful and voters’ turnout has been impressive. She pointed out that delay in few places was inevitable as the election officers were bound to impose Covid regulations. “Thermal screening, social distancing and distribution of gloves is taking time,” she explained.
