Hyderabad: BRS whip KP Vivekananda on Wednesday accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of treating Hyderabad with disdain and vengeance. He blamed the Congress government for the deteriorating and chaotic conditions prevailing in the city since it came to power.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Vivekananda said Revanth Reddy viewed Hyderabad as a worthless city, as he was obsessed with an imaginary Future City.

He charged the Chief Minister with systematically dismantling key urban projects, including the cancellation of the Raidurg-Shamshabad Metro Rail link and the Pharma City, which the BRS had planned to reduce pollution and decentralise growth.

He said under the guise of Musi River rejuvenation, the government was carrying out indiscriminate demolitions targeting the poor while sparing the rich and influential. He said the Congress had failed to win a single Assembly seat in Hyderabad and hence, neglected the city.

The BRS leader stated that Revanth Reddy was acting like a dictator and merged 27 suburban municipalities into the GHMC without conducting public consultations. He said the Chief Minister created 300 divisions without the knowledge of his Cabinet colleagues or the GHMC Mayor, forcing the inclusion of villages from surrounding constituencies.

He said while Hyderabad had won over 30 national and international awards under BRS, including the World Green City Award, the city has made no visible progress under the Congress regime.

Meanwhile, BRS MLA Dr K Sanjay criticised the shrinking space for debate in the Assembly and frequent disruptions of the opposition MLAs by the ruling Congress.

Pointing out that the Assembly functioned for just 16 days in 2025, he demanded that the government run the ongoing Assembly session for at least 15 days to discuss people’s issues.
