Wanaparthy: BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar on Wednesday alleged that the POCSO case involving Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, was being deliberately weakened due to a secret friendship of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with the Union Home Minister. He demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and sought to stop any attempts to dilute the case.
Addressing a press conference in Wanaparthy along with former Minister S Niranjan Reddy, Praveen Kumar questioned why police notices were allegedly served to the accused’s maternal uncle instead of his father and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay. He questioned under which legal provision notices could be served through a relative in a case involving serious sexual assault allegations.
“If a serious crime is committed tomorrow by another person, will the police arrest him first or serve notices and wait for his response?” he asked.
The BRS leader also criticised the registration of cases against the victim in Karimnagar and alleged that the SIT (special investigation team) probe ordered by the State government was only nominal.
Meanwhile, Niranjan Reddy questioned the delay in arresting Bandi Sai Bageerath despite the registration of a POCSO case. He urged officials to function strictly within the framework of law and the Constitution. He cautioned that institutional credibility would erode if authorities failed to act impartially in sensitive cases.
He also demanded a suo motu case against Bandi Sanjay for allegedly threatening the Karimnagar Police Commissioner and sought a transparent investigation into the case.
