Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of colluding with the BJP to defame the Kaleshwaram project and malign the BRS leadership. He said the Congress-BJP nexus was exposed during Assembly proceedings as part of a larger conspiracy to shut down the Kaleshwaram project permanently.
Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Prashanth Reddy alleged that Harish Rao was deliberately obstructed 33 times by the Chief Minister and his Ministers during his speech. He said only one legislator from 37 BRS MLAs was allowed to speak for a total of 80 minutes with frequent disruptions, while two BJP members, despite the party having just eight MLAs, were given around 90 minutes. He also alleged that BJP MLA Palvai Harish read out a script handed over by Revanth Reddy to attack the BRS.
He further claimed that the decision to hand over the Kaleshwaram case to the CBI within 24 hours was part of a larger conspiracy involving Revanth Reddy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
“CBI means Congress-BJP investigation. This is not about accountability but a plot to permanently close Medigadda and dry up the Kaleshwaram project,” he said, questioning why similar probes were not ordered into Polavaram or the SLBC tunnel collapse.
BRS whip KP Vivekanand also hit out at the Chief Minister, calling him a pawn in BJP’s game. While Rahul Gandhi brands the CBI and ED as BJP’s tools to target the opposition, Revanth Reddy had become a puppet in Modi’s hands by deciding to hand over the issue to the CBI, he said. He added that the people of Telangana had seen through the duplicity of the Congress government and would deliver a fitting verdict.
