Hyderabad: Renowned poet Nandini Siddha Reddy refused to accept honours from the Congress government, condemning the move to alter the Telangana Thalli design and terming the removal of Bathukamma from it as a direct assault on the State’s history, culture, and self-respect. He declared that he could not accept the felicitation by a government that destroys Telangana heritage.

In response, BRS working president KT Rama Rao appreciated Siddha Reddy’s bold decision.

“Eliminating Bathukamma, the embodiment of Telangana, tarnishes our identity. Siddha Reddy’s stand and commitment is a source of pride and inspiration for every citizen committed to preserving our culture and self-respect,” he said.

Former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao also extended his support.

“Siddha Reddy upheld the dignity of Telangana by rejecting a government that disrespects the cultural legacy of Bathukamma. Crores of people hold Bathukamma in their hearts, and any attempt to erase its significance is an insult to Telangana’s essence,” he stated.
