Mancherial: BRS party cadre expressed anger against the State government for delaying the payment of a bonus of Rs.500 per quintal to fine variety paddy. They staged a rasta-roko on the Luxettipet-Jannaram road in Dandepalli mandal centre on Saturday.
Led by former Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao, the cadre blocked the traffic on the busy road for a while as part of their protest. They raised slogans against the State government for delaying the payment of the bonus, causing inconvenience to farmers. They demanded that the government release the financial support at the earliest.
Rao found fault with the government for failing to keep its promise. He stated that 98 percent of farmers in the Mancherial Assembly segment were yet to receive the bonus. He regretted that a single farmer from a village did not get the aid so far. He wanted the farmers to teach a lesson to the Congress for duping them and for not implementing poll promises.Police rushed to the spot and persuaded the cadres to end their protest.
Nadipelli trust chairman Vijith Rao, BRS Dandepalli mandal president Chunchu Srinivas, leaders K Linganna, Akkala Ravi, Anil, Podeti Srinivas, Padam Srinivas and many others took part in the protest.
