Adilabad: BRS cadres staged protests across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Sunday against notices issued to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged phone-tapping case.
Former minister Jogu Ramanna slammed the Congress party for issuing notices to Rao, alleging that BRS leaders were being harassed under the guise of the phone-tapping case. He participated in the burning of an effigy of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy staged by BRS cadres in Adilabad town. He was later detained and shifted to the Rural Police Station.
Party cadres staged sit-ins on roads, burned effigies of Revanth Reddy and wore black flags in several parts of Nirmal, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts while protesting against the notice. They criticised the Congress for summoning Rao in the case and alleged that the party was indulging in political vendetta against the BRS.
