Khammam: The birthday of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was celebrated with great pomp at Telangana Bhavan in Khammam on Tuesday.

BRS district president MLC Tata Madhusudhan along with former MLAs Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Banothu Chandravathi, cut the cake and raised “Jai KCR – Jai Telangana” slogans. A huge blood donation camp was organised; the MLC donated blood and filled the activists with enthusiasm.

In another programme, a cake was cut by the elderly at an old age home in NSP camp, fruits were distributed to them and ‘annadanam’ was organised.

Speaking on the occasion MLC Madhusudan said Chandrashekhar Rao is a visionary who not only realised the dream of a Telangana State, but also put the state at the forefront of progress.

The schemes he introduced aimed at the welfare of farmers and the upliftment of the poor, which have become a compass for the country, he said. Senior BRS leaders RJC Krishna, K Nagabhushanam, Bachu Vijay Kumar and others were present.

At Yellandu town in Kothagudem, senior BRS leader Dindigala Rajender cut a 72-kg cake marking Chandrashekhar Rao’s 72nd birthday besides breaking 72 coconuts at the local Shiva temple. Rajender said that the creation of Telangana was possible only because of Chandrashekhar Rao, who risked his life for the cause.

At Kothagudem, Chandrashekhar Rao’s birthday was celebrated grandly under the leadership of former chairperson of Kothagudem Municipality Kapu Seetha Lakshmi. Former minister Vanama Venkateshwar Rao attended the programme and cut a cake in the presence of the activists. Seetha Lakshmi planted a sapling in the premises of Telangana Bhavan.
