Hyderabad: BRS leaders including working president KT Rama Rao and senior MLA T Harish Rao condemned the arrest of Errolla Srinivas, senior BRS leader and former SC-ST Commission chairman from his residence in Hyderabad on Thursday early morning. They called it a blatant act of harassment and intimidation against the opposition leaders.

In a statement, KT Rama Rao charged the Congress government with targeting BRS leaders for questioning unfulfilled election promises to Dalit and Bahujan communities. “This is a heinous act to suppress the opposition. The Chief Minister is implementing ‘Emergency’ as the seventh guarantee after failing to implement six others in Indiramma Rajyam (reign),” he said.

He demanded Srinivas’s immediate release and an end to a “toxic culture” of false cases against the political opponents and those who are questioning the oppression.

Senior legislator Harish Rao termed the arrest undemocratic and slammed the Congress government for using dictatorial tactics. “Revanth Reddy, who has failed to manage law and order as Home Minister, is focused on harassing BRS activists. This satanic bliss won’t last long,” he warned.

Senior leaders and former Ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy, S Niranjan Reddy and others also condemned the arrest and vowed to fight against intimidation by the Congress. They stated that Telangana’s self-respect, built through struggle, would not bow to oppressive actions.
