BRS condemns Revanth Reddy’s remarks on KCR
The BRS condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks against party president K Chandrashekhar Rao, alleging they could influence the SIT probe into phone tapping and accusing the Congress government of abandoning its six guarantees and mismanaging the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara
Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks against BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, stating that the comments were likely to influence the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged phone-tapping case.
“BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao is undoubtedly the architect of Telangana. He fought for a separate State, achieved it, and will remain eternal in the hearts of the people,” Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council S Madhusudhana Chary said.
Addressing a press conference here, Chary said Chandrashekhar Rao had resigned from several positions and founded a political party solely for the Telangana cause. Questioning the Chief Minister’s role in the Statehood movement, he said Revanth Reddy neither participated in nor contributed to the Telangana agitation.
Despite Justice B Sudarshan Reddy advising against hate speeches a day earlier, the Chief Minister made derogatory remarks against the BRS president, he alleged. Even if Revanth Reddy were to go to Harvard or space, his mindset would not change, Chary remarked.
The Leader of Opposition accused the Congress government of abandoning the implementation of its six guarantees and instead indulging in baseless allegations against the BRS president, which, he said, reflected the Chief Minister’s deceitful and manipulative politics.
He also alleged that the Congress government had failed to organise the Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara efficiently, resulting in people being stranded in traffic jams for nearly 15 hours and a lack of basic facilities. He demanded that the Chief Minister tender an apology to the people.
BRS MLC T Ravinder Rao also criticised Revanth Reddy for questioning Chandrashekhar Rao’s contribution to Telangana. He said the BRS president had confronted former Chief Ministers YS Rajashekhara Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu and went on to establish a separate State.
Under Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, Telangana emerged as a top-performing State by ensuring welfare and development for all sections, Ravinder Rao said.
He further stated that Chandrashekhar Rao had offered Rajya Sabha and MLC positions to Prof Kodandaram, which were declined. In contrast, despite knowing that his nomination as an MLC would face legal hurdles, Revanth Reddy offered him the position and was now shedding “crocodile tears”, he alleged.
Ravinder Rao questioned whether the PC Ghose Commission or the Electricity Commission had found any irregularities against the BRS chief.
