BRS leader Karne Prabhakar criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for mocking the Press Club of Hyderabad, calling it an insult to journalists and the public. He demanded an apology and urged political parties and journalist unions to condemn the remarks
Hyderabad: Calling Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s comments on the Press Club of Hyderabad an insult to journalists and the public, BRS leader Karne Prabhakar demanded an apology from him.
Addressing a news conference along with a host of party leaders including Anjaneya Goud, Vasudeva Reddy, Ramachandra Nayak and others at Telangana Bhavan, he accused Revanth Reddy of disrespecting the Press Club, the only neutral platform for public voice, by mocking it during a recent meeting.
He recalled that Revanth Reddy himself had earlier participated in a “Meet the Press” programme at the Press Club when he was the Congress Working President and questioned the Chief Minister’s sudden disregard for the institution.
“The Press Club is a place where people raise their issues. By insulting it, Revanth Reddy has insulted the public and journalists,” Prabhakar said, urging journalist unions, intellectuals and other political parties, including the BJP and Communist parties, to condemn the Chief Minister’s remarks.
The BRS leader also criticised the silence of Congress leaders, including Kodandaram, who was reportedly seen laughing during Revanth Reddy’s remarks, and Media Academy Chairman Srinivas Reddy, who failed to respond to the insult.
