Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress workers engaged in arguments and sloganeering during a programme to distribute regularisation certificates on Saturday.

BRS MLA from LB Nagar D. Sudheer Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and others participated in the programme. Beneficiaries from different colonies of LB Nagar were present to receive their house regularisation certificates under GO 118.

However, even before the programme commenced, BRS workers objected to the police denying them permission to go on stage. They argued that Congress leaders without protocol were allowed on stage and demanded that they too be allowed.

The police, however, did not allow them on stage. Irked by the police action, Sudheer Reddy wanted to leave the venue. He alleged that the police had earlier prevented him from proceeding to the venue and criticised what he described as the police’s overzealous action.

Later, while the BRS MLA was addressing the gathering, a few Congress workers, believed to be supporters of Congress leader Madhu Yaskhi Goud, raised slogans from the stage. Despite Sudheer Reddy appealing to them to refrain from sloganeering, they continued.

“This is not good on your part. Don’t instigate BRS workers to reciprocate. Mend your ways,” Sudheer Reddy said. He also asked the Revenue Minister to take note of the behaviour of the Congress workers.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government was focusing on the 12 points concerning the 22-A issue announced in the Assembly. Accordingly, the promises were being fulfilled in a phased manner, with the government addressing colony-related issues under GO 118 and the regularisation of house sites in the Singareni region under GO 76, he said.
