Hyderabad: The BRS slammed the Congress government over the delay in the completion and commissioning of the 1,000-bed Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Hospital at Alwal. On Wednesday, a party delegation led by BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank visited the healthcare facility initiated during the previous BRS regime.

Speaking on the occasion, BRS official spokesperson Manne Krishank said nearly 10 months after the Congress government assumed office, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had declared that about 90 per cent of the construction had already been completed. However, he alleged that the remaining work was yet to be completed despite repeated assurances.

Krishank termed the delay as deliberate, alleging that the government was postponing the inauguration of the hospital instead of making the facility available to the public at the earliest. He also criticised the police for objecting to the BRS leaders’ visit following a complaint by the local Congress MLA and for even disconnecting the electricity supply at the hospital premises, terming the move unnecessary and politically motivated.

He maintained that every citizen had the right to visit a public hospital built with taxpayers’ money.
