Hyderabad: BRS leader A Rakesh Reddy launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over misuse of power to demolish homes of the poor ahead of the visit of Miss World contestants to Ramappa.

Pointing out that shops and homes belonging to the poor were bulldozed on Warangal-Nagarkurnool route for beautification, he demanded that the government provide appropriate compensation to the affected families.

Speaking to media here on Wednesday, Rakesh Reddy questioned the State’s priorities, pointing out that Rs.200 crore was spent on beauty pageants, while farmers were reeling under crop losses and water shortages. He questioned what the State gained from hosting the beauty pageant at such massive expenditure.

“More demolitions are happening in Telangana than new constructions, with the poor being targeted in the name of HYDRAA, Musi Riverfront and now, Miss World,” he said.

The BRS leader contrasted the Congress government’s expenditure for Miss World with Formula-E race hosted during the BRS regime. He reminded that as per Neilsens report, the State attracted Rs.700 crore business due to Formula-E race. He stated that instead of attracting investments, the government was pushing the State into chaos.
