Hyderabad: Calling for liberation of the four crore Telanganites from the pincer grips of the oppressive Congress rule in the State, BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Sunday stressed the need for another Sankalpa Deeksha to reaffirm the commitment to the State’s progress and put it back on the rails.

Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan along with a host of party leaders, he announced that Deeksha Divas would be observed in a befitting manner on November 29 in the State. This day marks the anniversary of the pivotal hunger strike initiated by K. Chandrashekhar Rao in 2009, which played a crucial role in achieving Statehood for Telangana.

Reiterating his party’s commitment to preserving the legacy of the statehood movement while addressing the challenges faced by the State today, he appealed to the party cadres to participate in large numbers and make the Deeksha Divas a massive success. He declared that the Deeksha Divas will be organised in all 33 districts of Telangana.

Calling the upcoming event another Sankalpa Deeksha for the party cadres, he said senior leaders were assigned as in-charges for each district. Preparatory district-level meetings would be held on November 26 to ensure the success of the event.

Telangana Thalli statue unveiling on Dec 9

The Telangana Thalli statue will be unveiled at Medchal on December 9 marking the culmination of the Deeksha Divas fete while highlighting the significance of NIMS Hospital, which served as the centre stage during the final stages of the statehood fight. Stressing the importance of the occasion, the BRS will organize an ‘anna danam’ (poor feeding) and other commemorative activities in a big way as part of it at NIMS, celebrating the spirit of the fight for statehood.

Rama Rao took the opportunity to criticize the national parties, BJP and Congress, stating that the current situation in the State was a grim reminder of the pre-statehood days. He emphasized that the same repression, excesses, and turmoil were being experienced by people from all walks of life, from auto drivers to construction workers, and from those below the poverty line to the well-to-do sections.

He urged the people to teach a lesson to these parties, emphasizing the need to uphold the values and aspirations that led to the formation of Telangana.
