Hyderabad: Former Minister V Srinivas Goud lodged a complaint, seeking immediate legal action against those allegedly involved in the death of a two-month-old child following an attack during a temple festival in Nagarkurnool district. Along with BRS leaders, he submitted a representation to Telangana DGP B Sivadhar Reddy in this regard here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Goud said a family from BC (washerman) community were assaulted during the Mallikarjuna Swamy Jatara at Kummera village on February 18, by alleged upper caste members from the ruling Congress. He said they were prevented from entering the temple, abused on caste grounds and physically attacked.
He stated that the victims approached the village sarpanch Tukaram Reddy and others for intervention but were allegedly assaulted again. The family later lodged a complaint at Nagarkurnool police station, but no action has been initiated. The infant, who was reportedly injured in the incident, died on February 21.
Srinivas Goud demanded stringent action against all those responsible and urged the police to ensure that such incidents do not recur. Several community leaders accompanied him during the representation.
