Hyderabad: Former Minister and TBGKS honorary president Koppula Eshwar demanded the cancellation of all coal block tenders in Singareni, amid alleged Rs 6,000 crore scam in the Naini coal block tenders. He accused both the Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led Centre of collusion in corruption.
He announced plans to intensify the “Save Singareni” movement unless all tenders are cancelled and a comprehensive inquiry is conducted.
Addressing mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Eshwar questioned why only the Naini coal block tenders were cancelled after BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao exposed irregularities. He said since the Congress came to power, Telangana has become synonymous with scams.
The former Minister accused the authorities of manipulating the tender process to benefit Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law.
He questioned the introduction of site visit certification and said tenders that were earlier awarded at a low price were now being sanctioned at higher prices to benefit the contractors, indicating corruption.
He stated that the Congress government was harassing Harish Rao in the name of a phone-tapping case, for exposing the scam. He questioned the silence of union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay.
“If a scam has occurred, why is no CBI inquiry ordered? The Congress in the State and the BJP at the Centre are acting as one,” he added.
TBGKS president Raji Reddy raised alarm over political interference in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), contractor syndicates and losses to SCCL due to unpaid discom dues.
