Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Friday demanded for a CBI investigation into the changes in the alignment of southern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) under the Congress rule. He said the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government is altering the alignment for personal gain. He questioned the rationale behind the changes at four locations, leading to increased length.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, Prashanth Reddy criticised the Congress government’s move, stating that the alignment was being shifted to benefit Congress leaders at the expense of poor farmers. “The alignment is being adjusted towards lands owned by Congress leaders,” he said, citing changes along Sagar Road and Srisailam Road. He also pointed out that Congress leaders are allegedly involved in land grabs through cancellation agreements, specifically mentioning 400 acres of land in Kundaram, where poor farmers are being exploited.

The former Minister urged union Minister Nitin Gadkari to intervene and ensure that the poor and the underprivileged sections do not suffer, because of the Congress leaders’ greed. He explained how former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao initially secured central funding for the project. He expressed concerns that the continuous changes in the alignment could derail the entire project.

He sought transparency, demanding fair compensation for the poor and tribal communities affected by the alignment changes. He urged union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay to step in and initiate a CBI probe to expose the truth behind the alleged land encroachments and corruption of the Congress leaders.
