Siddipet: BRS leaders and other opposition parties have demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy cancel his public meeting scheduled to be held on December 3 in Husnabad town, alleging that the meeting would violate the Model Code of Conduct, which is in vogue ahead of the gram panchayat elections.
They are opposing the meeting after Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar released a schedule of the Chief Minister, as per which he would be laying foundation stones to multiple works that connect to rural parts of Husnabad constituency where gram panchayat elections are about to be held. He will also distribute zero interest loans to women of Koheda mandal villages. Revanth Reddy is also slated to lay foundation for the construction of the Husnabad-Akkanapet road with an outlay of Rs.10 crore. While Akkannapet is a gram panchayat, the road would also touch multiple gram panchayats en route.
The Chief Minister will hand over RTC hired buses to SHG women of Akkannapet panchayat, apart from handing over a waste management vehicle to SHG women of Samudrala panchayat in Koheda mandal. Another foundation to be laid is for the Husnabad-Karimnagar road, which connects multiple gram panchayats en route. All these are being seen as an attempt to influence voters ahead of the elections.
BRS leaders and other opposition parties have demanded the Chief Minister to cancel his meeting and have sought the Election Commission to direct the Chief Minister to cancel the meeting.
However, Siddipet district officials are busy making arrangements for the meeting.
