Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy has demanded a judicial inquiry into alleged large-scale land grabbing in Kollapur, targeting Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.
Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Harshavardhan Reddy accused the Minister of making misleading claims about protecting 1,600 acres linked to former Kollapur rulers. He said patta passbooks for the land were issued during Jupally Krishna Rao’s earlier tenure in the previous Congress government, following which a case was filed in the Supreme Court.
However, he said that during the previous BRS government, the passbooks were cancelled and the land was included in the Dharani portal to safeguard it from encroachment. He warned of initiating legal proceedings against the Minister for making baseless allegations.
The former MLA alleged the illegal sale of 44 acres of forest land in Yellapuram after tampering with records, including the felling of trees in a Tiger Reserve area. Complaints have been filed in the Supreme Court alleging the Minister’s role, he alleged. He said Krishna Rao was filing false cases and intimidating those who opposed him during the Assembly elections. He also accused the Minister of encroaching on endowment lands.
