Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former MLA Bodhan Mohammed Shakil Aamir lamented that the Congress government has been forcing the Imams of different mosques to ask the Muslim voters to cast their vote for Congress party candidate in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency bypoll.

Interacting with media persons here on Saturday, Shakil Aamir said that the Congress government is making all efforts to convince the people to vote for their party and is adopting all immoral methods to get votes.

“Mosques are a sacred place, it is not proper on part of the Imam of the mosques to fall prey to any political party and make any political statement. They should understand that the Congress party is pitting them against their rival political parties and trying to divide the Muslim community,” said Shakil Aamir.

On Friday, it is reported that the Imams in different mosques in Jubilee Hills constituency had urged Muslims to cast their votes for the Congress party candidate in the bypoll scheduled for November 11.

Shakil Aamir said that since the Congress came to power, the people have been suffering a lot. “The Congress is trying to woo the Muslims through some or other way. It is important to stay united and Muslims should not fall for such cheap gimmicks and conspiracies of the Congress party,” said the BRS leader.

He further added that the Congress is foreseeing its defeat in the upcoming election, so it is adopting all cheap strategies to gather votes for the party.
