BRS-era Pharma City draws proposals at Global Summit; State claims total investments of Rs 5.75 lakh crore
Telangana government claimed Rs 5.75 lakh crore in investment commitments at the Global Summit, with major pharma companies seeking large land parcels in the rebranded Green Pharma City—reviving a project the Congress had once declared scrapped

Hyderabad: The State government has claimed that it got commitments or signed memoranda of understandings for investments worth Rs 5.75 lakh crore over two days of the Telangana Rising Global Summit. Interestingly, a large chunk of investments announced on the second day came with request for land in the Pharma City, a project initiated by the previous BRS government.
The Congress government had earlier announced the Pharma City as a ‘scrapped project’, but later informed the Telangana High Court that the project was still on under the name Green Pharma City.
Among the announcements were those by Biological E Limited, which has proposed to establish large-scale Vaccine, Research & Development, and Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) facilities in Telangana as part of its next phase of expansion, with an investment of Rs.3,500 crore, in addition to its earlier investment of Rs.500 crore. The company has requested 150 acres of land in Green Pharma City for this project.
Granules India, which has proposed to establish advanced facilities for the manufacturing of peptides, along with a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) for oncology products in Telangana with an investment of Rs.1,200 crore, has also requested 100 acres of land within Green Pharma City.
The other notable pharma sector proposals include Aurobindo Pharma, which has proposed to expand and develop its capabilities in complex generics, injectables, oral solid formulations, biosimilars and biologics with an investment of Rs.2,000 crore; and Hetero Group, which has proposed to establish large-scale pharmaceutical formulations facilities in Telangana with a proposed investment of Rs.1,800 crore and for which it has requested 100 acres of land.
Bharat Biotech has proposed to establish a state-of-the-art Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organization (CRDMO) facility with an investment of Rs.1,000 crore.
Apart from other proposals in different sectors, an MoU was also signed with Ajay Devgn Film Studio for land, infrastructure support for a Film City. An official note said this was to explore a public-private film ecosystem with studios, VFX and workshops.
Other notable announcements include GMR Sports Venture Private Limited’s Satellite Sports City, a Telangana FIFA- AIFF Football Academy (Men’s) under the FIFA talent development scheme and so on.
The International Hockey Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2026 with eight countries and 24 international hockey matches at Gachibowli Stadium, the Asia Rowing Championship 2026 with participation of 18 countries and Hyderabad International Chess Festival 2026 were also among events announced.
