Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has expressed solidarity with cable operators staging a protest at Indira Park.
BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan joined the protest on Saturday, extending his support to their cause amid growing concerns over unfair treatment affecting their livelihoods. Sravan demanded an immediate halt to what he described as injustice being inflicted on cable operators, whose profession supports thousands of families. The cable operators have denounced the arbitrary removal of cables. Sravan condemned the act as a direct threat to their right to earn a living.
He called for provision of viable alternatives to safeguard the welfare of their families. He further emphasised the need for urgent inspections of electric poles to ensure safety and secure connections, warning that current practices pose a grave risk to public lives. “Authorities must immediately verify and rectify these dangers to prevent any loss of life,” he said.
Sravan also criticised the State government’s approach to cable operators. He said if the cables are to be removed, it should be done with advance notice and respect for the rights of the affected individuals. He termed the sudden cable-cutting drive as unconstitutional and a violation of due process.
