Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Monday hit back at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks against BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, demanding that he withdraw them and offer an unconditional apology.

Condemning the Chief Minister’s repeated attacks on the BRS president, former Minister T Harish Rao maintained that vitriolic remarks would neither fulfil people’s aspirations nor resolve their problems.

Taking to X, Harish Rao asked the Chief Minister to stop his “cheap and undignified rhetoric” and the politics of distraction. “It is not your tall claims that the people look at, but your governance. It is not publicity stunts that the people seek, but genuine performance,” he stressed.

The BRS Deputy Floor Leader said people were taking to the streets seeking accountability over several promises, including Rythu Bandhu, complete loan waivers, welfare schemes for women and unemployment allowances.

“Do you have answers for the public outcry surrounding HYDRAA demolitions, the controversies linked to the Musi projects and various land-related issues?” he asked.

Harish Rao advised the Chief Minister to focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people instead of blaming and attacking the BRS president whenever questions were raised over the government’s failures. Such attacks were aimed at diverting public attention, he alleged.

“Revanth Reddy should immediately withdraw his remarks against the BRS president and offer an unconditional apology,” Harish Rao demanded.

He reminded the Chief Minister that the BRS president had led the separate Telangana movement and staked his life for the State’s identity, intensified the struggle and secured statehood.

“It might be easy to badmouth such a leader, but working for Telangana with his level of commitment and steering the State onto the path of progress was something you could not achieve even in a thousand lifetimes,” Harish Rao said to the Chief Minister.
