Hyderabad: The BRS has initiated legal proceedings against digital media platforms and influencers responsible for spreading defamatory and paid content against the party leadership including BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao. Legal notices are being issued to those spreading malicious propaganda on digital platforms.
In a statement, the party said that Chandrashekhar Rao and Rama Rao were being deliberately targeted with false narratives, some of which it said were funded by the ruling Congress. The party said the content was largely being used to spread misinformation, create confusion and malign the image of the previous BRS government. Legal notices have been issued demanding the immediate removal of such content, failing which strict legal action will be initiated.
Party leaders said while some entities had already taken down derogatory and paid material following complaints, others continued to circulate malicious content. The notices categorically stated that the videos were created with ‘malicious intent’ to shock viewers, mislead society, and tarnish the image of both Chandrashekhar Rao and Rama Rao.
The BRS maintained that the defamatory content was being circulated for political motives, undue publicity and financial gain, amounting to clear defamation under the law. The party condemned the circulation of such fabricated narratives and reiterated that it would not allow such narratives to malign its leadership.
“The party will pursue all legal remedies to hold the perpetrators accountable and protect its dignity,” the party asserted.
