Kothagudem: BRS cadres launched a digital campaign on Monday seeking the State government to carry out repairs to damaged roads in the district.
The party leaders took selfies at potholes on the main thoroughfares and posted them on social media. In Kothagudem, former municipal chairperson Kapu Seethalakshmi along with the cadres took a selfie on Godumavagu bridge and staged a dharna.
Speaking to the media, she alleged that development of Kothagudem was stalled under the Congress government rule in the past 22 months. Commuters were suffering a lot due to damaged roads all over the district. But no steps were taken to address the problem.
She said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was not paying attention to the governance but was busy touring Delhi. The officials were carrying out temporary repairs to the roads only when the MLA was visiting Kothagudem constituency, she noted.
BRS district president and former MLA Rega Kantha Rao took out a rally at Manugur and staged a dharna on the main road. He complained that even though there were three Ministers in the district, not a single rupee was released for road works and it was testament to the incompetence of the Congress government.
He warned that coal trucks going to Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant would not be allowed to move on the roads in Manugur if the roads were not repaired. Companies like SCCL, BTPS and ITC were giving crores of rupees of CSR funds every year, which were being diverted to the Chief Minister’s constituency Kodangal, he alleged.
The protests would be continued until the roads were improved and the public problems were resolved, Kantha Rao said. Similar protests were held at Laxmidevipally and other parts in the district.
