Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS leader V. Srinivas Goud on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress government for delaying irrigation operations.
He accused the government of ignoring timely suggestions from the Opposition to activate the pumps at the Kalwakurthy lift Irrigation Scheme and the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
He questioned Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, asking him to explain the reasons for switching on the Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme pumps on Tuesday, despite earlier deferring it till July end.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS leader criticised the government’s failure to operate the Jurala lifts on time. He advised the government to operate the pumps of Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Ranga Reddy projects to lift water, without any further delay. He warned that shutting down Kaleshwaram would hurt the Congress, not former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
Targeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Srinivas Goud said the former fled after challenging BRS working president KT Rama Rao to an open debate. He asked TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud to stop making unwarranted remarks against Rama Rao and ensure that the BRS was given fair time for debate in the Assembly.
He said that if the Congress was confident about its governance, it must ask the 10 defected MLAs from the BRS to resign and contest bypolls.
