Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao lashed at Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy for spreading misinformation on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). He countered Uttam, who said KLIP did not bring a single acre under irrigation in the State.

Addressing the villagers of Raghavapur in Chinna Kodur mandal on Saturday, Harish said the people of Raghavapur know how the area under irrigation has increased manifold in their village after the lake there was impounded with Kaleshwaram water from Ranganayaka Sagar.

He said Uttam Kumar Reddy must feel ashamed for spreading misinformation on the Kaleshwaram project despite it changing the face of the State’s agriculture sector.

Recalling how the BRS government used to release fish into water bodies every year at the beginning of monsoon, Harish further lashed out at the Congress government for its failure in releasing fish into water bodies, which has cost the livelihood to fishermen in Telangana’s villages.

The former Minister said farmers were finding it difficult to mobilise funds to buy seed and fertiliser ahead of Vanakalam as the government denied them Rythu Bharosa, loan waiver and other benefits.

He said farmers were denied Rythu Bima as the government failed to pay the premium to the insurance company.

Harish also observed that the people of Telangana had started realising how they were cheated by the Congress government by making false promises. He said everyone in Telangana wanted to see the BRS in power again in the State.
