Sangareddy: Former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran said that police have denied permission to his annual “Alai Balai” programme planned on October 23 in Andole constituency, citing various illogical reasons.
Even though the organisers had planned the meeting on registered private lands, the police, who arrived at the site on Wednesday, stopped the BRS leaders from making preparations, asking the BRS leader to obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the irrigation authorities.
When Kranthi Kiran met Sangareddy DSP to seek permission hours later on Wednesday evening, the DSP said the police were concerned about the security of former minister T Harish Rao, who was invited as chief guest to the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Kranthi Kiran said that the police were trying to create hurdles for the programme at the behest of the Health Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha.
Since the BRS wanted to highlight farmers’ issues during the event, the former BRS MLA said that Damodara Rajanarasimha was making all-out efforts to stop the programme. However, Kranthi Kiran said that they would organise the programme in keeping with the tradition.
