Hyderabad: Former Minister V Srinivas Goud raised serious concerns over the Congress government‘s mishandling of irrigation projects in Telangana, particularly the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. He charged the ruling party of neglect and mismanagement, endangering both irrigation and drinking water supply in the State.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Srinivas Goud questioned the Congress’s inaction in completing the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project, despite 90 per cent of the work being done during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure.

He challenged the government to explain why it has failed to supply irrigation water to an additional acreage in 14 months. He reminded that the Kaleshwaram project which was portrayed as monumental corruption by the Congress, continues to serve 20 lakh acres.

“Congress came to power by deceiving people, but farmers will soon see through their lies,” he remarked. He also criticised the State’s silence on the Krishna River water diversion, stating that Andhra Pradesh is taking advantage of Telangana’s weak leadership. “The Congress has always betrayed this region, whether in undivided Andhra Pradesh or now,” he stated.

Former MLA Anjaiah Yadav pointed out that Congress leaders like Jupally Krishna Rao themselves praised Palamuru projects in the past but are now attacking them for political gains.

MLC Naveen Kumar Reddy blamed Revanth Reddy over failure to act on key projects despite making grand announcements. “Laying foundation stones is not enough; where is the progress?” he questioned.

The BRS leaders called for immediate action, urging the government to secure permissions and complete pending irrigation works as was done by Chandrashekha Rao earlier.
