Hyderabad: Former Minister V Srinivas Goud flayed the Congress government for abandoning irrigation projects in the Palamuru region and conspiring to target former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He criticised Congress leaders for not completing the pending works of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and other projects, while blaming Chandrashekhar Rao for the same.
“If the BRS did nothing, how have several lakh acres come under cultivation? What has the Congress done in the last two years? The Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project is 90 per cent completed. What stopped the Congress government from completing the remaining 10 per cent works?” he asked.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Srinivas Goud said Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy had failed to retrieve the bodies of workers stuck in the SLBC tunnel after the mishap. He dismissed the Kaleshwaram project probe as a political conspiracy, hinting at sabotage, and stated that the allegations and investigations against the Kaleshwaram or any other project were only aimed at the BRS president to tarnish his image.
He slammed the Congress government for leaking details from the Kaleshwaram Inquiry Commission’s report even before it was approved by the Cabinet. He called it a conspiracy to tarnish the image of Chandrashekhar Rao and frame him.
“They are more interested in headlines than helping farmers. If Chandrashekhar Rao looted Rs 1 lakh crore, how did they construct the Kaleshwaram project, including Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages?” he questioned.
He said the previous BRS government had constructed 188 check dams and provided 24/7 electricity, bringing over 8.5 lakh acres under cultivation. He reiterated that Chandrashekhar Rao was always pro-farmer and that the Congress was targeting him only with political motives.
MLC Naveen Kumar Reddy, former MLAs Chittem Rammohan Reddy, Patnam Narender Reddy and others were also present.
