Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA P Sabitha Indra Reddy lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for turning Osmania University into a police campus during his visit on Monday. She condemned the arrests of students and demanded their immediate release.

Questioning the need for iron barricades and battalions of police for the Chief Minister to enter the university campus, she asked why students’ voices were being silenced with illegal detentions. She also said Revanth Reddy had failed to deliver on promises of two lakh jobs a year, unemployment allowance, fee reimbursement and overseas scholarships.

BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar also questioned the extraordinary security cordon. He accused the government of treating students like terrorists and wondered why the Chief Minister was afraid of visiting a university campus without such unprecedented security.
