Karimnagar: BRS leaders from the erstwhile Karimnagar district hit back at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his Sircilla speech, accusing him of focusing on personal attacks against BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao instead of addressing farmers, weavers, irrigation, employment and development.
Speaking on the occasion on Thursday, former Minister Gangula Kamalakar said people expected major development announcements during the Chief Minister’s visit but were disappointed. He pointed out that projects like the cable bridge, riverfront and the collectorate in Karimnagar city, were sanctioned during the previous BRS government.
He asked Revanth Reddy to identify a major new project sanctioned for Karimnagar by the Congress government and sought clarity on the pending railway bridge works. He also demanded evidence for allegations against KT Rama Rao, including those concerning 8,000 acres.
BRS general secretary and former Minister T Jeevan Reddy said the government should explain why the Worker-to-Owner scheme for weavers had been stopped and what it had done for Sircilla’s handloom workers in last three years.
Former MP B Vinod Kumar stated that several projects now being credited to the ruling Congress, were actually initiated during the BRS regime. In response to the Chief Minister’s allegations against BRS working president KT Rama Rao, he sought details of the alleged 8,000-acre land issue under the RTI Act and asked the government to make its evidence public.
BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy demanded the release of the second instalment of Dalit Bandhu funds for Huzurabad and Rs 1,000 crore for constituency development.
The BRS leaders also sought revival of the Worker-to-Owner scheme, acceleration of pending railway works and a white paper on the handloom sector.
