Karimnagar: In the wake of Karimnagar town bandh called by the BRS., most of its leaders were taken into preventive custody on Saturday morning. Local MLA Gangula Kamalakar was put under house arrest and later shifted to a police station.

The BRS called for a Karimnagar town bandh protest against the BJP attack on Karimnagar MLA camp office as well as on Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.

A huge police force was deployed at the residence of Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar preventing him from coming out of his house. He was put under house arrest and police closed the entrance of his residence. Police prevented him when he tried to come out of his house.

BRS leaders

Enraged over the incident, BRS activists staged a protest demonstration at MLA’s residence by holding black flags. Raising slogans against the state government and BJP, they wanted the police to stop illegal arrests of BRS leaders.

Police took them into custody and shifted them to the police station. On the other hand, police arrested agitating BRS workers at Tower circle.

Giving bandh call, the BRS appealed to the business community to extend their support to bandh by voluntarily closing their business establishments.

However, BJP asked the business people not to support BRS since the bandh call was not given on public issues.

Anticipating troubles, police officials deployed a huge police force to award any untoward incidents.
