Hyderabad: BRS student and youth leaders came down heavily on Congress leader Gajjela Kantham for making derogatory remarks and personal attacks against BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao and party working president KT Rama Rao. They condemned the deliberate smear campaign and vowed not to remain silent, if their leaders were insulted without evidence.

At a press conference in Telangana Bhavan on Friday, BRS Vidyarthi (BRSV) vice-president Thunga Balu warned that personal criticism in the name of politics will not be tolerated. He demanded Gajjela Kantham to withdraw his comments and apologise.

BRSV leader Bommera Ramamurthy said the Congress leader’s statements were baseless and disrespectful. “Don’t test our patience,” he warned.

Addressing the media separately, BRS youth wing leader Valamalla Krishna said Gandhi Bhavan had been turned into a place of slander under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He said with Kantham working under Revanth Reddy, one cannot expect any better.

Manda Suresh said Kantham had a tainted past, accusing him of betrayal during the Naxal era. “He insults Rama Rao only to please Revanth Reddy, who cannot even get appointment of his leader Rahul Gandhi,” he charged.

Another leader Bandari Veerababu warned to expose details of Gajjela Kantham’s dark past and his alleged misdeeds in Karimnagar, if provoked further.
