Hyderabad: Senior BRS leaders on Thursday lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of lowering the dignity of the constitutional office with his uncivilised and irresponsible statements. They said children were frightened by the Chief Minister’s rhetoric, while adults were disgusted.
Addressing mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, former MLA Rasamayi Balakishan said Telangana villages, which were clean and stable during the tenure of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, were now slipping into decline under Congress rule. Accusing Revanth Reddy of indulging in abusive remarks against Chandrashekhar Rao and other BRS leaders, he questioned the former’s moral authority to speak against BRS leaders.
He asserted that the BRS would return to power, with the people of Telangana rallying behind Chandrashekhar Rao. He demanded that Revanth Reddy introspect and focus on governance instead of political invective.
Former MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah said Revanth Reddy should first change his language before speaking about governance. He said the Chief Minister resorted to abuse whenever confronted with criticism and warned that such conduct would hasten the downfall of the Congress party in Telangana.
Former SC, ST Commission chairman Errolla Srinivas said politics in the State had lost its values, with the Chief Minister competing only in abusive language. He said the dignity of the Chief Minister’s chair was being eroded, while development had stalled since the Congress came to power.
