Mahabubnagar: Many Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders were put under house arrest ahead of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Palamuru tour for the second consecutive day on Friday.

At Nagarkurnool, the BRS leaders were prevented from stepping out of their house. Councilor Timmajipeta Pandu, Kotha Gangadhar, BRSV leader Vamshi Goud and others were picked up by the police and shifted to Nagarkurnool police station.

The BRS leaders argued with the police for preventing them from submitting representations regarding different issues to the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, a few BRS leaders burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister at Timmajipeta mandal in Nagarkurnool on Friday morning. Despite police placing the BRS leaders under house arrest, a few managed to assemble at Timmajipeta and burnt the effigy as part of their protest.

They raised slogans against the Congress government, especially the Chief Minister for the undemocratic arrests.

The BRS leaders demanded the Congress government to complete the pending works of Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme (PRLIS).

They slammed the Congress government for neglecting the PRLIS for the last two and half years and conducting an inspection tour as an eyewash measure.

If the Congress government was really committed to completing the pending works, necessary funds should be allocated. All the works should be completed with a set deadline, they demanded.
