Hyderabad: Apart from arresting several people and preventing leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi from heading towards Secunderabad railway station, the police were also obstructing party workers from stepping out of Telangana Bhavan on Saturday.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council V Madhusudhana Chary was stopped while attempting to proceed to Secunderabad. Despite informing the police that he had to visit NIMS Hospital for treatment, permission was denied.
Even after the BRS MLC explained the purpose of his hospital visit, the police refused to grant permission. BRS leaders raised slogans against the Congress government and police officials in protest.
“This is a dictatorship. Cannot a person visit a hospital for treatment, why are we being stopped?” Madhusudhana Chary questioned.
After a prolonged delay, the police allowed the BRS MLC to proceed in a separate vehicle. He was permitted to visit the hospital only under police escort.
