Hyderabad: Restrictions on public access to Razzak Manzil have drawn criticism from BRS leaders, who questioned the measures in the wake of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s claim that the government was implementing the seventh guarantee to ensure people’s freedom.
People visiting the Telangana State Waqf Board, Telangana State Haj Committee, Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation, Urdu Academy and the District Minorities Welfare Officer’s office are facing considerable inconvenience due to the restrictions.
Taking serious objection to the measures, former Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation Chairman Syed Akbar Hussain and former Telangana State Waqf Board member Waheed Ahmed met the Waqf Board Chief Executive Officer on Monday.
The BRS leaders submitted a detailed representation seeking the immediate restoration of normal public access. They said people arriving from different districts were facing considerable difficulties in submitting official representations and applications.
Visitors were also reportedly receiving police challans for parking their vehicles outside the premises. The leaders alleged that even devotees visiting the Haj House Masjid to offer prayers were facing difficulties.
The delegation also expressed concern over the installation of channel gates at several locations and restrictions on lift access to the first floor. They said these measures were making movement within the premises difficult for ordinary visitors.
During the meeting, the CEO appeared reluctant to give a clear assurance on removing the restrictions. He said instructions had been received from higher authorities and specifically referred to directions from Delhi, the BRS leaders said.
The delegation urged the authorities to remove unnecessary restrictions immediately, restore free public access, facilitate vehicle parking and ensure convenient access to the Haj House Masjid.
“If normal public access is not restored promptly, we will be compelled to organise a large-scale democratic protest on November 5,” the BRS leaders said.
