Khammam: The State and Central governments have failed to support the families affected by Munneru floods that occurred in the first week of September, alleged leaders of Left parties and BRS.

A dharna was staged by the leaders and activists of BRS and Left parties at Khammam urban tahsildar office here on Wednesday. CPM district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao, CPI leader N Shasidhar Rao and BRS leaders RJC Krishna took part in the dharna. Speaking on the occasion they said thousands of houses were submerged in water, and a large number of household items were damaged. The State government should grant Rs 3 lakh to the families affected by the floods, they demanded.

The leaders complained even though more than a month has passed, hundreds of families were yet to receive the Rs 16,500 financial assistance the government promised. The ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Bhatti Vikramarka and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy were spending days with review meetings and laying foundation stones but caring about the flood affected families, they alleged.

Left party leaders Y Vikram, Yerra Srinivasa Rao, Bhukya Srinivasa Rao, Nandra Prasad Dongala Tirupathi Rao, Pinninti Ramya, corporator Ellampalli Venkatarao, Bandaru Yakayya and others were present.
