Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath has been declared as dead by doctors at AIG Hospitals,  Gachibowli  on Sunday morning. He was 63.

“Declared dead today in the morning 5.45 am.  He was admitted on 5th June at around 2.56 pm with massive heart attack”, a hospital bulletin on Sunday morning said.


Maganti Gopinath  was elected from Jubilee Hills constituency on BRS ticket in the last elections. He was hospitalised after he suffered a heart attack at his residence here on June 5.

He was also suffering from a kidney related ailment, after undergoing a surgery a couple of months ago.

Maganti Gopinath was born in Hyderguda on June 2, 1963. He completed his graduation with a BA degree from Osmania University. He was the president of Telugu Yuvatha from 1985 to 1992.

Gopinath was elected as an MLA from Jubilee Hills constituency in 2014, 2018, and 2023. He first won the Assembly election in 2014 on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket. Later, he joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and contested the 2018 election on a BRS ticket and won. In the latest 2023 election, he scored a hat-trick by defeating Congress candidate Mohammad Azharuddin.
