Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for misleading the public on Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, ration cards and the electoral promises of the Congress.

He rubbished the Chief Minister’s recent claims during the meeting at Thungathurthy in Suryapet district.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Jagadish Reddy said Godavari River was being deliberately dried up, challenging the Chief Minister or his Ministers for an open debate at Kannepalli pump house. He asked the government to hand over the project to the BRS for three days.

“We will operationalise Kannepalli pumphouse, lift water and supply them to water bodies to irrigate ongoing Vaanakalam season. If we or them are proven wrong, let the farmers slap us on our faces,” he dared.

On ration cards, the former Minister accused the Chief Minister of peddling lies. “In July 2021, the then Congress MLA Bhatti Vikramarka tweeted about distributing ration cards. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy who was then a BRS MP advertised about it in newspapers. Under K Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule, around 6.47 lakh ration cards were distributed,” he asserted.

He blamed the Congress-TDP regimes for fluorosis crisis in erstwhile Nalgonda district that claimed two lakh lives. He reminded that under the BRS rule, safe drinking water was supplied to every household and fresh irrigation facility increased paddy production from 3 lakh tonnes to 40 lakh tonnes.

On the Chief Minister’s remarks against him, Jagadish Reddy said Revanth Reddy’s politics have stooped to street-level drama, with him enacting every role.

He said instead of delivering the poll promises, Revanth Reddy was indulging in personal insults as he lacked substance to speak. He stated that the Chief Minister was only delivering the script sent by his mentor and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Banakacherla project.

“I will not stoop to Revanth Reddy’s level. I have proved every statement he made is a lie. Revanth is submissive to Chandrababu Naidu’s orders and is ready to pledge Telangana’s interests to please his Guru,” he added.

The former Minister declared that if elections were held now, the BRS will sweep in erstwhile Nalgonda district. He reiterated that the BRS practiced restraint for 25 years and will not be provoked, by abusive remarks against their opponents.” he concluded, citing the Supreme Court’s recent remarks on the need for self-control.
