Siddipet: Congress workers attempted to attack BRS MLA from Dubbak, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, while he was addressing a gathering after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day at the Gandhi Centre in Dubbak town on Monday.
According to reports, Prabhakar Reddy drew the ire of Congress cadres when he highlighted what he described as failures of the Congress government during his speech. As Congress workers raised slogans and attempted to disrupt the address, the MLA asserted that it was his responsibility, as an opposition leader and elected representative, to raise public issues and expose the government’s failures.
Tension escalated after the speech when Prabhakar Reddy proceeded towards his vehicle. Congress cadres tried to obstruct his movement and attack him. However, police personnel present at the venue intervened and ensured that the MLA left the place safely.
The incident comes close on the heels of an attempt by Congress workers to attack Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy recently in his constituency.
BRS leaders from the Dubbak constituency condemned the behaviour of the Congress workers and demanded strict police action against those involved.
