Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy on Thursday strongly objected to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks on the MLAs’ disqualification petition in the Supreme Court. He said the Chief Minster mocked the Supreme Court and judiciary with his remarks, misleading the Assembly over defections.

Speaking to mediapersons in the Assembly, he asserted that by-elections are inevitable and expressed confidence that the apex court would rule in BRS’s favour. He vowed to continue questioning the defected BRS MLAs until their disqualification.

Criticising the government’s handling of law and order, Kaushik Reddy said he received no response when he raised concerns in the Assembly. Pointing to the attack on his residence by the defected MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and his followers, he said the government did not take any action till date. He accused the police of colluding with the ruling party leaders, and demanded for suspension of those who aided the attackers.

“If MLAs are not safe, what is the plight of common people?” he questioned. He said despite a complaint about his phone being tapped, there is no action. He suggested that the Congress government focus on delivering its poll promises, rather than targeting the opposition leaders.
