Hyderabad: Calling the attack on the Leader of Opposition K Chandrashekhar Rao’s camp office by Congress leaders in Gajwel on Saturday utterly reprehensible, the BRS MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders wanted the proponents of democracy to condemn the act of hooliganism in unison.
Former Minister V Srinivas Goud described the attack on the BRS president’s camp office as an attack on the Telangana people. He came down heavily on the Congress leaders for forcibly placing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s portrait in the Opposition Leader’s camp office.
“Does Congress and Leader of Opposition in Parliament MP Rahul Gandhi place Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s portrait in his office?” Goud asked at a press conference.
BRS MLC Deshapathi Srinivas charged that police and administrative machinery, far from preventing this anarchy, stood by as mute spectators. This signals a systemic breakdown, he said.
“Instigating attacks on Opposition Leader’s offices is a clear testament to the existential crisis, psychological distress, and deep-seated insecurity currently plaguing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy,” Srinivas stated.
BRS Deputy Floor Leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the Congress leaders were resorting to hooliganism only to divert the people’s attention from core issues and cover up the Congress government’s failures.
BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan urged Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to intervene and issue directions to the State government to ensure law and order.
He also advised the Chief Minister not to instigate the BRS cadre and test their patience. “If the BRS workers take to the streets, then Congress Ministers will have to face tough times,” Sravan warned.
Former Minister V Prashanth Reddy charged that the Congress leaders had attacked the Leader of Opposition’s camp office out of frustration over losing two municipal Chairperson elections.
“An MLA’s camp office is a government asset. Ironically, the ruling Congress party leaders are attacking and damaging such assets,” he said.
BRS Official Spokesperson Ravula Sridhar Reddy said the act reflects the height of frustration among Congress leaders.
“It is a futile outburst, unable to salvage the Congress government’s image, which is deteriorating steadily,” Sridhar Reddy said, demanding that those responsible for the attack must be severely punished.
