Hyderabad: Serious irregularities were reported in the Jubilee Hills byelection, particularly at the Al Falah School polling booths in Diamond Hills Colony of Shaikpet division, on Tuesday. BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan inspected the booths following reports of rigging and alleged that Congress leaders were bringing women in burqas from other areas to cast fake votes.
Sravan strongly objected to polling officials allowing people without voter ID cards to vote. He questioned how such voters were permitted entry and accused the Election Commission, police, and government of colluding to ensure a Congress victory. “Is this a democratic election or a mockery of it?” he asked, expressing anger over large-scale bogus voting.
BRS local leaders alleged that police officers were silently supporting the irregularities at booths 66 and 67 and had ignored complaints from party agents who were allegedly threatened. They demanded immediate action from the election authorities.
Meanwhile, Jubilee Hills recorded the lowest voter turnout among all constituencies where byelections were being held in the country. By 1 pm, the polling percentage stood at just 31.94 per cent, raising further concerns about voter participation.
