Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan has questioned the increase in the estimated cost of the Sri Omkareshwara temple project at Manchirevula, demanding an immediate public inquiry into the revision.
Sravan said the project, initially estimated to cost Rs 700 crore, had been pegged at Rs 948.65 crore for temple construction alone in a government order. The total project cost, including road works, stood at Rs 1,108.27 crore, he said.
Questioning the revision even before construction began, Sravan asked why the estimates had risen sharply when excavation and brickwork had yet to start.
He demanded that the Congress government explain the reasons for the cost escalation and disclose who would benefit from the revised estimates. He pointed out that the department concerned was under the direct supervision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Alleging irregularities in the estimates, Sravan called for a transparent probe into the project costs and accountability for the increase.
